“The support provided by Accor Group to our humanitarian initiative strengthens our ability to offer help in a timely manner. More than half a million Ukrainian citizens entered the Republic of Moldova over the past weeks. Almost 100,000 are still in our country. In such circumstances, it is in our DNA, as hoteliers, to host and care for those in need. Joining hands with Accor in this initiative is one more proof that we share a common vision.” stated Ceslav Cuihrii, President of Ceslav Cuihrii Foundation.
Ceslav Ciuhrii Foundation was set up in 2021, at the initiative of Ceslav Ciuhrii, successful entrepreneur in horeca, real estate and biotechnologies, in the Republic of Moldova and in Romania, partner of Accor in the development of the first ibis Styles in Chisinau. In the early days of the refugees crisis, Ceslav Ciuhrii opened the doors of the "Madison Park" complex for Ukrainian refugees, which offers accommodation for 150 people, and the complex's restaurant, which provides food everyone hosted there. The foundation also made a donation in the amount of 100.000 lei to the account opened by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in support of refugees from Ukraine. At the same time, another 80,000 lei were donated within the framework of a campaign launched by the "Moldova AID" Public Association, used to provide accommodation and food for the first refugees to arrive in the country.
“The hotel industry always puts people in the center, that is what hospitality is truly about. We are very happy to be able to support Ceslav Cuihrii Foundation in Moldova and help people who had to leave their homes and relatives in Ukraine. Thanks to it, we can provide them with a substitute for the home they had to leave.” – says Duncan O’Rourke, CEO Northern Europe at Accor.
“Since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, Accor teams have been constantly engaged in various Solidarity forms of support in countries neighboring Ukraine, such as Moldova or Poland. We are very happy and proud to have been and to be still in the position to actively contribute to help people and refugees in distress, thanks to partnerships like this one, funded by our All Heartist Fund. Hospitality is a peoples’ industry. Taking care of People is what we are and what we do. This is our DNA. That is why we are constantly considering many possibilities and options for further support to the refugees. We are extremaly grateful and aprreciative of the effort of the people like Sabina Bartyzel, SVP Operations Accor Eastern Europe, thanks to whom we also were able to provide help to people in need.”adds Laurent Picheral, Managing Director Group Solidarity at Accor and managing our All Heartist Fund.
Accor has activated its ALL Heartist Fund, a dedicated financial vehicle to support our teams and their families in the region, and fund charitable acts and coorperations with local groups. All of the initiatives providing help to the refugees were covered financially by the ALL Heartist Fund. In addition, Accor Heartist Solidarity, our endowment fund, is partnering with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to collect employees’ donations which will be topped-up by Accor. Furtnermore, the group has made a donation to the Polish Red Cross for the purchase of necessary basic necessitiesand to PTAK Humanitarian Aid Center, the largest European aid point for refugees from Ukraine, which was established at the PTAK Warsaw Expo Trade Fair and Congress Center.
