Budapest, 28 May 2024 - Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, continues to expand its Swissôtel premium hotel brand in Europe with the signing of the 200-room Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon, which will be the first hotel under the brand in Hungary. The latest addition in Hungary builds on a growing portfolioof currently 30 premium hotels under this brand in Europe and North Africa. Set to open in 2028, this exciting new property is part of Accor’s ambition to expand its premium network and foster its market leadership position in core markets.
Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon, located in the Central District Lagoon City, will be part of a mixed-use development set along the Danube River. The four-star hotel will offer a variety of lifestyle amenities that make it a prime destination for those seeking tranquillity and adventure in Budapest. Designed with a focus on sustainability, the new hotel will offer upscale rooms and apartments overlooking a lagoon. It will feature a range of leisure amenities, such as two restaurants, a lobby bar, a spa with wellness facilities, a conference venue, and even a convertible winter ice rink. Founded in 1980, Swissôtel offers contemporary hotels rooted in the tradition of Swiss hospitality.

The Central District Lagoon City project is developed by Forty Management, a Swiss real estate developer of innovative mixed-use projects and urban reconversions.

Following the successful signing, the Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon is set to become part of an exclusive network of premium hotels, including the recently opened brand flagships Swissôtel Tbilisi in Georgia and Swissôtel Resort Kolašin in Montenegro and a strong pipeline in Eastern Europe.
Opened in March 2024, Swissôtel Tbilisi, introduced the brand to the South Caucasus region with 130 elegantly designed rooms. Located in the heart of Tbilisi close to the renowned Rustaveli Avenue, the hotel features a high-rise restaurant, the local Café Swiss, and extensive wellness facilities. Opened in February 2024, Swissôtel Resort Kolašin is part of the K16 ski development and offers a premium mountain retreat with direct access to the slopes. The resort combines rustic design with modern facilities, including a full-service spa and fine dining at two on-site restaurants.
Looking ahead, Swissôtel is set to open Swissôtel Poiana Brașov and Swissôtel Bucharest in Romania. The first property in a mountain resort is expected to open this year. The hotel features 114 meticulously designed rooms and apartments, a state-of-the-art spa, wellness and fitness facilities, a gourmet restaurant, and amenities for ski and winter sports enthusiasts. Swissôtel Bucharest with 224 exquisite rooms, and two restaurants – one with an exceptional panoramic view of the city, is set to open next year. The hotel also features a bar and lounge area, a swimming pool located on the 22nd floor, fitness & wellness facilities, and conference space. It will be the highest hotel in the Romanian capital, located in a 27-floor building near the airport.
In the Czech Republic, the brand expects to open Swissôtel Marianske Lazne next year, ideally located in the region known for its numerous spa resorts. The property will be a part of five unique buildings, distinguished by modern design and mountain atmosphere. The hotel, featuring 130 sophisticated and comfortable rooms will offer amenities for wellness and active relaxation, making it the perfect holiday destination.
In Bulgaria, within the next few years, the brand expects to open Swissôtel Sapareva Banja as a thermal spa and health centre. Located in the country’s most popular spa destination, the new property offers 170 premium suits, and one VIP villa with five bedrooms, an infinity pool and a jacuzzi. The hotel’s restaurant with an outdoor terrace, lobby bar, game room and executive club will meet the needs of the most demanding guests.
