Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, today announces the upcoming opening of Mercure Sofia, the first hotel under the midscale brand in Bulgaria. Expected to open in the autumn of 2024, the new hotel will be located in Manastirski Livadi one of the most sought-after areas of the capital. The hotel boasts convenient access to various landmarks and attractions in the city, offering guests the opportunity to discover Bulgarian culture.
Mercure Sofia will offer 111 modern and comfortable rooms of different categories, with breathtaking views of the mountains and the city skyline. The hotel will blend modern interior design and an eye-catching façade, incorporating design elements inspired by Bulgaria’s cultural traditions. Other amenities will include two restaurants serving local and international delicacies, suitable for hosting banquets, a wellness and fitness centre, as well as meeting and event spaces.
Since its founding in 1973, Mercure has taken pride in offering high-quality standards with a true take on the locality. Through its “Discover Local” programme, Mercure welcomes guests – whether it be in Rio, Paris, Bangkok, or any other destination globally – and instantly immerses them in a locally inspired atmosphere. Mercure hotels are conveniently located in city centres, by the sea or in the mountains, with more than 950 hotels in over 65 countries.
Mercure Sofia will be operated by Festa Hotels under a franchise agreement with Accor.
“The addition of Mercure Sofia marks a significant step in increasing our footprint in the Balkans, a region with strong potential for further growth. Mercure Sofia combines top hospitality standards, a convenient location and stylish design to provide guests with exceptional accommodation and enrich the hospitality landscape in the country and the wider region,” said Frank Reul, Vice President Development for Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy brands in Eastern Europe, Balkans, Italy & Greece.
“Our cooperation with Accor will enable us to combine their global experience with our local expertise. The brand’s dedication to world-class standards and focus on creating authentic connections with the local culture perfectly matches the character of our hotel and its surroundings, and we are confident that our guests will appreciate their stay at Mercure Sofia” – added Ivelina Gatseva, Executive Director and member of the supervisory board of Festa Hotels.
Mercure Sofia will be part of Manastirski Livadi, a rapidly developing neighbourhood that combines a dynamic urban environment with a relaxed residential atmosphere. The area provides quick access to the city centre through Bulgaria Boulevard and sits at the foot of the pristine Vitosha mountain with access to its national park, ski slopes, hiking and climbing routes, and other tourist attractions. The hotel’s proximity to the Sofia International Airport will make it a perfect getaway for both business and leisure travellers.
Mercure is a participating brand in ALL - Accor Live Limitless – a lifestyle loyalty program providing access to a wide variety of rewards, services and experiences.
