TORONTO, Canada – This month, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the international collection of landmark properties, is baring its passion for all things cinematic with the second iteration of its Fairmont Loves Film program. As North America prepares for the highly anticipated release of the feature film, “Downton Abbey,” on September 20th, several hotels within the portfolio are offering themed events, activities and packages.
A British historical period drama set in the early 20th century, Downton Abbey captured the hearts of television viewers across the globe. Now a Focus Features film, Fairmont properties in North America are launching inspired experiences, in the style of the Lords and Ladies of Downton Abbey, for guests and locals—from traditional and elaborate tea service to Roaring Twenties-themed cocktails and costumed events, Downton Abbey-outfitted suites, and more:Fairmont Copley Plaza – Often referenced as the “Grande Dame of Boston,” Fairmont Copley Plaza is celebrating the release of the movie and the arrival of Downton Abbey: The Exhibition to Boston by decorating one of their luxury suites in the spirit of the film’s post-Edwardian time period. Dressed with antique memorabilia curated from the Greater Boston Vintage Society, the “Experience Downton Abbey: The Exhibition Suite – Live Like a Crawley” room package is available to reserve through September 29th, 2019. Among the décor details in the suite: framed photographs of the exhibition displays, a phonograph from the 1900-1920s, antique candlestick style telephone, vintage silver tea set, and more. Fairmont Château Laurier – On Saturday, September 21st, Zoe’s, the hotel’s lounge, will host a special Downton Abbey Tea Experience from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Guests are invited to dress in period costume or incorporate elements from a favorite Downton Abbey character. Pastry Chef Anne Marie Milk has created a unique British tea menu, based on her experience at the famed The Savoy hotel in London.
