NEW YORK – November 5, 2015 - Sofitel North America is ending 2015 on a vibrant note. On November 4, Sofitel New York organized "Rendez-Vous at Sofitel" at the hotel's French brasserie Gaby, which was bathed in "Shocking Pink"— a color Ms.Schiaparelli made popular.
The event brought author, actress and model Marisa Berenson and her best friend, designer Diane von Furstenbergtogether for a sophisticated evening to discuss Marisa's memoir Elsa Schiaparelli's Private Album, which features dozens never-before-seen photographs from the family's private archives.
AccorHotels COO HotelServices of North America, Central America and the Caribbean Dominique Colliat conceptualized "Rendez-Vous at Sofitel" with the purpose of bringing together celebrities to discuss literature and art.
"Seeing Rendez-Vous at Sofitel come to fruition is extremely rewarding," Colliat said. "The Sofitel brand provides the perfect environment to bring these influential personalities together and celebrate both French and local culture. We are excited to continue our commitment to inspire our guests and communities with French art de vivre."
For nearly an hour, Diane and Marisa talked about Ms. Schiaparelli childhood, her loves, her life as a single mother, her influences and, of course, her amazing work. They both agreed that the brilliant, modern, and very creative Ms. Schiaparelli changed the world of women's fashion and left a definite mark in the 20th century.
"My grandmother was this incredibly inspiring person," Marisa said. "She dressed women with personality who dared to be different".
The soiree was attended by Bryan Bantry, Daniel Benedict , Milly de Cabrol, Anh Duong, Susan Gutfreund, Anne McNally, Charles Miers, Billy Norwich, Starlite Randall, Carlos Souza, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, and Bettina Zilkha, among many other of New York's elite.
