“For the third year in a row, Novotel North America is pleased to be raising awareness for the top men’s health issues, and to be offering donations to support the fight against them,” said Marc Sternagel, VP of Operations Midscale Hotels for AccorHotels North and Central America and Caribbean. “Through various implementations across the hotels, our goal is to get our staff, guests, and local communities involved in the effort with us.”
Novotel North America properties are participating with a $1 donation per corporate room booking (up to $1,500 per hotel) and a $1 donation per specialty “MO-jito” sold at onsite restaurants and lounges, while decorated donation boxes at guest registration encourage even more donations. Donations to Movember can also be made via the Movember page on the social media channels of individual Novotel North American properties.
Specifically, Novotel Ottawa is hosting an annual Movember Charity Bash on November 18, 2015, from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. RSVP* to enjoy complimentary tastings from The Albion Rooms, canapes and charcuterie boards, and beverages for purchase, with $1 from each drink supporting the Movember Campaign. In addition, the hotel is offering an Ultimate Men’s Package, which includes an overnight stay for two, steak and eggs breakfast, and more amenities tailored to male guests.
All properties are also joining the MOVE In Movember effort by challenging employees and guests to do something active 30 minutes per day – whether it is walking, playing ping pong, or bike riding, no MOVE is too big or small. MOVE is a perfect way for women to join in the effort throughout the month, and encourage their male counterparts to get moving with them.
Novotel Montreal Centre staff members are boosting MOVE contributions by performing various exercises per donation from $1 up to $20. For example, a $5 donation will produce a 30-second plank from the staff, while a $20 donation will encourage staff to take on the endeavor of 20 sit-ups or push-ups.
Launched in 2003, the Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health. The organization challenges men to shave clean on November 1 and then grow a moustache in support of men’s health for the 30 days of “Movember” to raise awareness and funding for its programs. Over the years, the Movember community has gathered five million registrants, raised $650 million, and funded 1,000 programs in 21 countries.
This is the third year Novotel North America has participated in Movember, with the hotel group’s Canadian addresses raising $2,100 in 2013. Last year, Novotel New York Times Square joined the effort and the group raised over $10,000. This year’s fundraising target is $18,000.
