THIS NEW HOTEL OF THE ACCOR BRAND BECOMES A FLAGSHIP WITH A FOCUS ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND THE USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES.
VITORIA-GASTEIZ, 14 September 2023 - ibis budget, the Accor Group's brand for adventure and urban sports enthusiasts, is opening a new establishment in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a flagship in which the sustainable approach is particularly important and which lands in a city that is a world reference in this area and with an interesting gastronomic, cultural and business life.
With five floors, 119 rooms (four of them adapted for people with functional diversity) and parking, the new ibis budget Vitoria-Gasteiz, which opened its doors on 4 September, is located in a strategic location. Just 15 minutes from the old town, with its Gothic cathedral, the beautiful Plaza de la Virgen Blanca and the city's famous taverns and pintxo bars. The ibis budget Vitoria-Gasteiz is very close to the bus station, the headquarters of the Basque Government, the Txagorritxu hospital and the exit to the motorway. All this makes the hotel an ideal place for both leisure and business trips.
This new ibis budget will feature its iconic design and dynamic, comfortable, intuitive and contemporary characteristic style, with healthy breakfast options to start the day with energy.
Vitoria-Gasteiz stands out as one of the pioneering cities in Spain and Europe where the greatest efforts have been made towards sustainability since the early 2000s. The capital of the Basque Country held the title of Green Capital of Europe in 2012 and has to its credit great efforts and successes in the field of decarbonisation, such as energy efficiency, the use of renewable energies, sustainable mobility, waste management and the conservation of green spaces and biodiversity.
The actions proposed for the ibis budget project in Vitoria-Gasteiz are fully aligned with this solid sustainable approach to the city, thus contributing to respect for the environment.
Its prefabricated surrounding façade and its carpentry are designed to avoid cold-heat transitions, the building's energy classification being A. It is equipped with photovoltaic panels, with aerothermal installation, ventilation with cold/heat recovery and an entry lock in the rooms with presence control. It also has flyers to raise awareness among clients so that they can individually contribute to reducing their carbon footprint.
Thus, ibis budget Vitoria-Gasteiz complies with Accor's decarbonisation roadmap, which stands out for being a pioneer in the world with the SBTI (Science Based Target Initiative) method.
"We are very happy with the arrival of ibis budget in Vitoria-Gasteiz and look forward to welcoming customers who come to visit this beautiful city in an establishment where they will be able to enjoy the brand's new concept, which we are sure will allow them to recharge their batteries", says Laura Alves, Brand Manager Eco brands Spain & Portugal.
