From January 23 to 29, 2017, music lovers in search of a place to spend their next vacation had the chance to get a personalized recommendation from AccorHotels.com in a new social media campaign called #MyTravelSong.
AccorHotels.com knows that music is closely linked to travel, from the initial inspiration to memories of the trip and the discoveries made. With this in mind, it decided to offer suggestions for unexpected destinations based on the music preferences of campaign participants in five countries (France, England, Italy, Spain and Brazil). After telling AccorHotels.com the title of their favorite song on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #MyTravelSong, participants received a unique recommendation for the destination that best corresponded to it – off the beaten track and original places that may just inspire them to plan a trip.
The campaign attracted a lot of attention, generating 693,000 interactions on the social media sites and giving AccorHotels the chance to discuss music and travel with over 2,800 participants while recruiting more than 6,800 new followers for its social media accounts. All told, over 5,600 travel destinations were suggested to match participants’ musical tastes.
Of all the music mentioned by participants, K-pop was the surprise leading genre. As for artists, Ed Sheeran was named most often by all nationalities combined.

It reflects our commitment to offering every traveler a unique, ground-breaking and fully personalized experience from their very first contact with our digital ecosystem. The campaign is also a continuation of our earlier innovative social media initiatives aimed at enhancing the AccorHotels.com brand’s attractiveness and closeness”, AccorHotels E-commerce Director Romain Roulleau explains.
