THE ADNATE & HYDE PERTH KITCHEN + COCKTAILS OFFICIALLY OPEN IN SPECTACULAR STYLE
Celebrations took over the entire 27-storey hotel – poolside to skyline – to mark the opening of Western Australia’s first Art Series hotel and Art Series’ first hotel dedicated to street art.
Guests included The Adnate namesake artist Matt Adnate, Accor Apartment & Leases Senior Vice President Operations Mark Hodge, hotel developers George & Peter Atzemis, model Nathan McGuire (and subject of the hotel’s mural and foyer portraits) and Piiata Heenan (subject of Adnate’s Maori portrait in the hotel laneway).
At the evening event, revellers sampled food and beverages from the hotel’s onsite Miami-style Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails, and were captivated with a range of performances and live art installations, including aerial and water dancers, floating orb contortionists and DJ performances
Local indigenous artist and proud Nyoongar woman, Jade Dolman, completed the finishing touches to her mural collaboration with Adnate on the night, while international painter Eric Mangen added another street art mural installation to the hotel live during the event.
Acclaimed Australian street artist, Sofles, also donned a virtual reality headset and hand controls (virtual spray cans) to showcase his talents on a big screen for a crowd of awe-inspired guests, who were also encouraged to explore their VR graffiti skills.
Accor Chief Operating Officer Pacific, Simon McGrath, commented, “We are very pleased to partner with the Atzemis family, the developers and owners of The Adnate, on this iconic property for Perth and our Group. As with all of our Art Series hotels, The Adnate was built around its namesake artist Matt Adnate to create a bespoke artist inspired guest experience. This hotel is true to Adnate and his incredible ability to tell stories about cultural and community connection through his art.”
Inspired by the powerful multicultural portraiture of renowned Australian big wall street artist, Adnate, the 250-room hotel features one of the world’s largest ‘mega murals’ – a monumental artwork spanning 25 storeys; the largest ever painted by Adnate and the tallest mural in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Adnate namesake artist Matt Adnate said: “If I wasn’t up there painting I’d be absolutely scared but, because I’m painting, I feel completely comfortable. Most of the subjects in my paintings are people who I have met and personally photographed. The best part of my work is the experiences and the education I receive from the people I meet. It has taken me on a journey that I never expected and has completely changed my life.”
Located on level one of The Adnate, Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails is Perth’s chicest new restaurant and bar, boasting an outdoor pool, sun loungers and DJ decks. Casual by day, classy by night, this laid-back venue, with music and entertainment at its core, is a playground for after-work drinks or long, lazy lunches with friends or colleagues.
The opening of Hyde Perth Kitchen + Cocktails is a WA first for the HYDE brand, which is widely known for its iconic celebrity-packed venues in Los Angeles and Miami.
The Adnate adds to Accor’s growing presence in Perth of 14 properties.

ABOUT MATT ADNATE:
Matt Adnate has moved past his roots in Street Art, utilising the medium to carry his realist style into the fine art realm.
