Accor proudly received the award for Best Sustainable Hotel Chain at the inaugural M&C Asia Stella Awards, a MICE industry-specific accolade launched by Northstar Travel Group, with judging by meeting planners and MICE professionals.
“We are thrilled to win this award, which applauds our continuous efforts to care for our environment and the communities in which we operate,” said Michael Issenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Accor Asia Pacific. “We believe in the importance of reducing our environmental footprint and giving back to the communities in which we operate, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because the long-term future of the planet depends on it.”
Accor’s signature sustainability programme - Planet 21 - aims at providing a positive hospitality experience across four strategic pillars – employees, clients, partners and local communities – with a special focus on the areas of sustainable food and eco-designed buildings.
Irene Chua, Vice President and Group Publisher Asia, Northstar Travel Group, said: “At Northstar, we see all the hard work done by our friends in the industry, and we believe that their efforts deserve to be recognised. M&C Asia Stella Awards is our way to celebrate their achievements and excellence, as well as to encourage others to push the boundaries of innovation and service standards in the MICE industry.”
