There is no place like Manhattan around the world. Located across the two floors of Fairmont Chengdu, the 43rd floor luxury destination venue is Chengdu’s first to offer a combined club, restaurant, bar and event space. Its diverse entertainment and sumptuous cuisine mirrors Manhattan’s Art Deco flourishes and the excesses of 1920s, evoking a sense of the decadent Great Gatsby era. With its grand opening party notable as one of Chengdu’s stellar social events of the year, Manhattan unveils itself with all the glitz and glamour of New York City.
Manhattan consists of four distinctive areas, carefully choreographed by Hong Kong-based interior design firm In-dulge. Platform is a glamorous lounge bar featuring classic cocktails with modern twists including signature drinks such as Seaweed & Scotch, a re-interpretation of the famous Japanese highball cocktail or Sakura Me an interesting combination of Sake and homemade Sakura syrup. Broadway Room is a cabaret lounge with a bohemian Art Deco vibe designed for private events. Whether it is a haute couture fashion show or a celebration underscored by Manhattan’s resident world-class DJs, Broadway Room is destined to be Chengdu’s party central. Atelier is a hideaway inspired by the speakeasies of the prohibition era, where guests can experience fine cognacs, rare whiskies and bespoke spirits accompanied by theatrical carvings of ice by hand. Ascending a Tiffany blue staircase, guests enter Miku and are welcomed into Chengdu’s first Nikkei inspired Japanese Peruvian culinary sensation. Chef SK Choi combines the indigenous flavors and ingredients of Peru with Japanese cooking techniques to stimulate all five senses.
Gary Rosen, Chairman and Chief Operating Office, Accor Greater China, says: “Manhattan is truly the definition of innovative entertainment. There is nothing that compares to this destination in Chengdu or in other parts of China. This extraordinary experience that is Manhattan was designed with the young dynamic and sophisticated trendsetters in mind. Manhattan has already become the place to see and be seen in Chengdu.”
The Manhattan experience includes outstanding international entertainment five nights a week, where no show is ever the same, as well as themed parties with concepts including Cirque, Cosplay and 1920s Shanghai Nights. Holidays and occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve will be ushered in with specially curated parties. All events will be professionally produced with thoughtful programming, venue décor, tailored entertainment, models and actors roaming in costume, and - most importantly - guest engagement for talk-of-the-town party experiences.
John Webb, General Manager at Fairmont Chengdu, comments: “We couldn’t be any more excited to bring Manhattan to Chengdu locals, and to visitors from all over the world. This all-encompassing lifestyle destination venue is sure to be one of the most exquisite dining experiences and entertainment complexes, with world-class DJs, flamboyant entertainers and different acts every night adding an element of surprise. Talented staff will add to the ambience with flair bartender shows, magic tricks and other creative ways of interacting with guests to make for truly memorable moments.”
