As part of its commitment to art and design within the hotel, Pullman Nanjing Lukou Airport has introduced the Travelling Art Exhibition to its lobby as part of the Pullman Artist Playground initiative. This adds elements of local interest, cultural intrigue and visual ingenuity to the hotel’s communal space.
Curated by Su Bing, Travelling Art focuses on suitcases, using diverse forms and media including painting and sculpture. Nanjing post-80s creative artist Ni Beibei has joined online celebrity calligrapher Zhu Jingyi, Shanghai based painter and sculptor, Cai Yong, up and coming 1980s artist Yao Pin, art practitioner Mao Weixin and 1970s artist and photographer Shi Zheng in their individual interpretations of the characteristics of travellers’ luggage.
“The global Pullman Artist Playground initiative was launched in Greater China at Pullman Park Lane Hong Kong in September 2016. It was subsequently extended to Shanghai, Kaifeng and Guangzhou in 2017,” said Christophe Lauras, Vice President Operations, Luxury and Upscale, AccorHotels Greater China. “We aim to spread this concept throughout Pullman hotels in China as part of the guest experience to showcase the brand’s dynamic culture.”
“As an airport hotel, we aim to provide a medium for artists and designers to bring their vision to life by housing their works within the hotel,” said Rolanda Zhu, General Manager of Pullman Nanjing Lukou Airport. “The art displays create new timeless experiences for our guests staying at the property and I am particularly pleased to highlight the works of our local artists to showcase the thriving city and its surrounds.”
The Travelling Art Exhibition is open to guests and the general public from January 10th to March 20th, 2018, before it moves to Pullman Shanghai South.
