Taking good care of guests, staff and stakeholders has always been at the core of what Accor does. As the domestic Chinese market continues to recover, Accor has implemented ALLSAFE encompassing some of the hospitality industry’s most stringent cleaning standards and operational protocols. These standards were vetted by Bureau Veritas, an internationally recognized leader in inspection, certification and laboratory testing services.
The reinforced cleaning regiment includes frequent disinfection of all high-touch public areas such as elevators and public restrooms; an enhanced in-room cleaning programme utilising professional cleaning materials; ensured social distancing measures throughout the hotel; and medical support in the event that guests that fall sick or feel unwell. The full programme covers comprehensive guidelines and best practises that range from staff training to reinforced cleaning of public areas, front of house, guestrooms, restaurants and bars, wellness areas such as gym, swimming pool and spa, as well as meeting and event spaces. Once a hotel has proven that key criteria are in place, it is granted an ALLSAFE label after a strict inspection process.
The ALLSAFE programme is reinforced by an ALLSAFE Officer whose responsibility is to implement hygiene trainings for staff, oversee guest feedback, and keep updated with local authority guidelines. Other ALLSAFE measures include optimisation of staff travel routes and work schedules to minimise cross-contamination while maintaining social distancing; effective management of waste, soiled and potentially contaminated items; increased frequency of cleaning for surfaces, equipment and utensils; and encouragement of online check-in, digital bill pre-authorisation and fast check-out to reduce physical contact. ALLSAFE prioritizes safety and health for everyone including third party vendors. Masks are to be worn by every guest in buffet services, while family style dining includes individual service cutlery for each food item on a lazy-susan and contact-free in-room dining service. Meeting and event spaces feature tables set apart as per local rules and practices, reinforced air ventilation, and advance participant name and contact lists. Local authorities’ guidelines for crowd control in dining and wellness venues are closely followed and updated accordingly.
“As a global leader in luxury and lifestyle hospitality, Accor’s ALLSAFE is a crucial programme for the industry’s recovery process. We play our role to rebuild guest confidence as people return to travel and lifestyle patterns. Through ALLSAFE, we aspire to exceed expectations by bringing back the joy of travel - to show that hotel stays are not just safe but also fun,” said Gary Rosen, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer with Accor Greater China. “We anticipate new needs while capitalising on this opportunity to surprise and delight guests with new services and products. Hygiene can be accomplished with flair and incorporate our brand touch points. Though circumstances may be different, guest experience remains the key to what we do. ALLSAFE emphasises the core of our business: guest health and safety as our top priority.”
With the easing of lockdown measures in many destinations, the number of hotels open for business within the Accor network, marks a resumption of activity in several of the hospitality industry’s markets in May and June, with a steady increase in the number of hotels reopening their doors in June and July. Accor anticipates that more than 80% of its global network will reopen by August. In the past two months, Accor has also seen renewed interest in travel demand, with hotel reservations doubling. In Asia Pacific, more than 1057 of the group’s 1231 hotels are now open, representing over 86% of its properties, with more being added each week. Following recent government announcements, this trend is expected to continue.
