Mövenpick continues expansion in Switzerland
Design
Renowned architects Miller & Maranta have led the design. The Basel-based architectural company was responsible for the construction of the entire Mövenpick Hotel Basel, which has 234 rooms and 30 suites (including 20 junior suites, nine suites, and a presidential suite). The atmospheric interior bears the signature of the renowned designer Matteo Thun, who worked closely with Miller & Maranta on the harmonious design of the 19-story hotel. True to the motto "Timeless Modern", warm colors and natural materials underline the deliberate style mix of elegant Swiss simplicity and timeless comfort.
F&B
The heart of Mövenpick has always been the gastronomic concept behind each hotel, which in the Mövenpick Hotel Basel is characterized by its innovation and international influences.
The PURO restaurant – including a show kitchen – combines Latin American specialties with the traditional flavors of Asia and the best regional products in an informal atmosphere. As executive chef, the Argentinean Pablo Löhle, who has previously worked at the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel, sets new and surprising accents. His other stations include the renowned Kempinski Hotel Bristol, Grand Hyatt, and Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin.
On the ground floor of the hotel, MP's Bistro & Bar is the ideal meeting place for locals and hotel guests with its outdoor terrace. In a modern, casual ambiance, everything from breakfast and seasonally and regionally inspired dishes to sophisticated cocktails and exquisite wines is served here.
MICE
As an important business location and venue for internationally significant trade fairs such as Art Basel the hotel also offers a comprehensive range of business and MICE facilities. The ultra-modern conference center, for example, has a total area of 2,000 square meters, which can be used flexibly. The elegant and divisible ballroom with a room height of five meters allows festivities with up to 600 guests. Spacious foyers with natural light are perfect for stand-up lunches, coffee breaks, and cocktails. The conference rooms and boardrooms on the second and third floors feature individual design and multifunctionality combined with an outstanding view of the city.
Wellness
The Mövenpick Hotel Basel also has a luxurious spa and fitness area covering 240 square meters. This includes a sauna, a steam bath, multi-sensory showers, and a relaxation zone.
Located right next to the railway station and with connections to the whole of Europe, the Mövenpick Hotel Basel underlines Accor's strategy of offering its guests attractive hotels at strategically important locations. As the headquarters of major international chemical and pharmaceutical companies, but also as a capital of art and culture and host to renowned trade fairs, Basel is an important hub not only in Switzerland but worldwide.
Developed by the Baloise Group as one of the largest insurance service providers in the country, the new hotel is managed by the Berlin-based HR Group as a franchisee under the Mövenpick flag. In addition to the Mövenpick Hotel Basel the Accor-brand Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts currently operates five hotels with a total of 1,306 rooms in Switzerland: Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Geneva, Mövenpick Hotel Egerkingen, Mövenpick Hotel Lausanne, Mövenpick Hotel Zürich Airport and Mövenpick Hotel Zürich Regensdorf. The Mövenpick Resort Savognin will expand the portfolio as the brand's seventh hotel.
