Accor Launches New Graduate Programme in Commitment to Fostering Talent
The INSPIRE programme will develop the next generation of hospitality leaders, CREATING 100 POSITIONS IN THE UK
With expert tools, first-class opportunities and supportive mentorship, participants will spend 12-18 months training across the business, with exposure in different departments and the opportunity for specialised areas of focus; from front office to spa, food and beverage to maintenance, finance and accounting to talent and culture.
The programme offers two options for graduates; one offering Cross-exposure, rotating between departments and moving into a specialized area; the second option offering Specialization, enabling graduates to gain expertise with a specific focus in one specific department. For either option – there are four key elements: Inspire Induction, The Inspire Project, The Global Leadership Programme and one week immersion in another hotel, each term supported by a Peer Ambassador and programme Mentor. This is a salaried position offering valuable experience at supervisor level (or equivalent), enabling graduates to build leadership foundations through meaningful experiences. Successful graduates will have the opportunity to become Head of Department or be offered further managerial opportunities on completion of the programme.
Sophie Kilic, Senior Vice President Talent & Culture Operations Northern Europe said, “Accor’s INSPIRE Programme aims to unlock the leadership potential of young talents, encouraging future leaders to come as they are and be all they can be. Accor has over 5,300 hotels in 110 countries so offering young professionals valuable leadership experience in a range of areas is critical to the future of hospitality.
The INSPIRE programme is designed to attract and engage graduates with a passion for hospitality. We are seeking the hospitality DNA – passion for people, creativity, attention to detail, agility, communications skills – we can teach the rest. With the INSPIRE programme, you can climb faster than anywhere else with the best tools, resources, and experiences.”
As one of the largest hotel groups, Accor employs over 260,000 talents worldwide and recognises the responsibility to not only drive employment in the sector, but to create ample opportunities to build a sustained workforce, recruiting locally and giving opportunities to work globally. Hospitality accounts for more than 3 million jobs in the UK and is the third largest private sector employer, representing 10% of UK employment.
Accor is recruiting for a further 450 hospitality positions across the UK as summer recovery surges.
Commenting on the current job climate in the sector, Sophie Kilic, who heads up Talent & Culture for Accor hotels in Northern Europe, said: “Accor is responding to the fantastic return to travel and hospitality experiences with a nationwide recruitment drive, offering 450 positions in hotels across the UK. The hospitality industry is unique in its ability to throw open doors to people who have the passion to pursue a wide-ranging career. We have fantastic examples of career growth across our teams and the ability to zig-zag careers in and out of exciting positions all over the world, between departments, functions, hotels and countries, moving from hotel F&B to regional F&B procurement, front of house to head office, Birmingham to Berlin.”
She added: “Hospitality is a sector that really cares about people, about being human. We want to recruit people who want to be a part of that, people who have a heart for hospitality and want to make a difference to someone’s day or life. Above all, people who love connecting and exploring new cultures while working in an exciting, fast-paced environment.”
