Accor brings MGallery to Taipei, creating a fashionable and soulful urban retreat

The Philippe Starck designed boutique hotel is an inspired first destination for the MGallery brand in Taiwan

 

Accor and Hezun Hotel Inc. recently announced the signing of the first MGallery hotel in Taipei – a 100+ guestroom boutique hotel designed by world-renowned architect, Philippe Starck in 2016. Now joining the MGallery Hotel Collection, the 13-storey hotel will undergo refurbishments and upgrades. The hotel will also adapt to Accor’s environmental standards, in areas such as plastics reduction, food waste, and energy efficiency. Guests arriving to the MGallery in Taipei will discover a fashionable urban retreat amid the energy of the downtown business district.

 

“Accor is thrilled to welcome this jewel of a hotel to our growing MGallery portfolio – which, here in our region, includes two flagship hotels in Hong Kong and our architecturally award-winning property in Mi’Le, to name a few,” said Gary Rosen, CEO, Accor Greater China. “MGallery has a way of making big spaces feel intimate, making small spaces feel exquisite, and making all who visit feel welcome and inspired, which perfectly aligns with the history and character of our new hotel in Taipei.”

 

The new MGallery in Taipei will entice curious travelers who yearn to experience something out of the ordinary. Guests will discover the nearby attractions of Taipei 101, Taipei Arena and Raohe Night Market. The hotel sits along Dunhua North Road, perhaps the most vital boulevard in the city – culturally significant, centrally located, and well-connected to public transportation. The popular thoroughfare is elegantly lined with stately green trees, verdant parks, architectural diversity, and a plethora of shops, businesses and cafés.

The new MGallery in Taipei is not the first Accor hotel to have a connection with Philippe Starck. The contemporary designer’s influence can be found at the TOO Hotel Paris – MGallery, and several other Accor hotels such as Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris; SLS South Beach Miami; and Mondrian Los Angeles. At the hotel in Taipei, Starck created a bridge between tradition and modernity. By incorporating indigenous humanistic features from Taiwan, Starck created a sensorial experience of art, culture, creativity, and intelligence. This aligns with the design philosophy of MGallery, which is to honor the origin, heritage, and stories of each hotel’s past with modern sensibility, blending local artistry with contemporary style.

 

Beyond design, guests of MGallery in Taipei will connect with the hotel’s distinctive character through its services that invoke a sense of well-being and its creative food and drinks that enliven the senses. An exclusive wellness experience is linked to each hotel, inspired by the hotel’s history and expressed through unique experiences to ignite each guest’s inner spark.
