Representing both, the modern Ørestad-district and Copenhagen’s largest recreation area, Amager Fælled, the new ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad is the perfect spot for design and nature lovers. Headed up by Louise Adolph, a Copenhagen native, the hotel team has now crafted two unique city tours to showcase the best of the Danish capital. Set up as self-guided tours, guests and curious locals can follow the routes either by foot or using one of the hotel’s rental bikes. The online tours named “The capital of Architecture” and “The Two Faces of Copenhagen” cover everything from famous buildings to the best foodie spots in town. And the best part is they don't cost you a single dime.
If you are into design and architecture, Copenhagen is the place to visit. And ibis Styles Ørestad is the place to stay. The design lead economy hotel opened in March and is the first ibis Styles property in Denmark.
Urban Escape
Each ibis Styles property has its own unique design, theme and personality inspired by the destination and the surrounding areas. This is clearly visible from the moment you enter the new flagship in Copenhagen. Unique art pieces from local artists such as Stine Hvid cover the walls of the public spaces, where bright, urban colours meet the comforting green and blue tones of the close-by sea and Amager Fælled.
The close connection of the hotel with its surroundings is not only reflected in the design. Going the extra-mile for foreign and local guests, the team has just launched two self-guided city tours. Guests can scan the QR code in the lobby or guest rooms to access the maps which are both free. The routes, which take not more than half a day, can be followed by foot or using the hotel’s rental bikes.
The capital of Architecture
Starting at the hotel, the first guide leads through Ørestad. The district is not only Copenhagen's playground for the national and international architectural scene, but also home to its largest park. In Ørestad you will find some of the most talked-about and instagrammed buildings in Scandinavia. By following the route, guests can discover how these contemporary buildings reflect Denmark’s cultural values, such as sustainable design, smart infrastructure, and sharing common spaces. At the end of the approximately 7 kilometres long tour, guests can indulge in a delicious smørrebrød overlooking the endless Kalvebod Fælled, before heading back to the hotel.
The Two Faces of Copenhagen
The second self-guided tour starts from the green outbanks of the city straight to downtown with some of the locals' most beloved places and food spots on the way. Located in the modern district of Ørestad right at the edge of Amager Fælled, ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad just perfectly represents the two faces of the Danish capital - the serenity of unspoiled nature with the urban life just around the corner. Some of the highlights of the 9-kilometre route include the Nattergalestien, the lively Islands Brygge, Wulff & Konstali bakery, and many more.
Perfect for a late autumn city trip, room rates at ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad start at 155 Euro (1,152 DKK) for a double room, with breakfast for two included.
