Backed by the ALL Heartist Fund, a charitable grant program created to assist vulnerable people worldwide, Accor aims to assist Lila.help in expanding the global reach of its directory through translating the platform’s content into the world’s 15 most common languages. In addition, Accor will contribute to essential awareness raising activities with the aim of increasing engagement with the platform amongst organisations, local authorities and vulnerable individuals.
Accor is and always will be a people centred organization and caring for others is part of our DNA. Ensuring that all individuals are provided security and equal opportunity to realise their aspirations, no matter their gender, is one of the four main pillars of the group’s Diversity & Inclusion policy. Accor therefore makes the elimination of gender-based violence a priority issue and has a long-standing commitment to taking concrete actions for combatting sexism, sexual harassment and domestic violence, wherever the Group has a presence.
This new partnership with Lila.help is a significant step for Accor in building upon multiple group wide initiatives and partnerships with key institutions in order to realise its commitments. For example, since 2021 Accor has been a co-leader of the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender-based Violence - convened by UN Women. Furthermore, Accor continues to take proactive steps to both educate and protect all its staff, implementing a global e-learning system on sexism, sexual harassment and domestic violence, which is translated into 13 different languages.
As part of the Group’s mission to ensure its hotels are valued components of the communities in which they operate, local teams have also taken it upon themselves to implement regionally focused strategies to work toward reducing gender-based violence and discrimination. Just one example of many is in Turkey, where Accor has been working with the government since 2015 to support women in shelters to become independent through training in the hospitality professions.
“This partnership with Lila.help is a great opportunity for Accor to lend its support to an innovative and worthwhile initiative capable of changing people’s lives globally. For Accor women’s rights and gender equality are central parts of our D&I policy and we strive to ensure all female talents and guests in our hotels feel protected, included and empowered to achieve their aspirations. Furthermore, Accor is deeply committed to being a social elevator in the communities within which it operates and contributing to initiatives such as Lila.help is key to achieving this aim through making a concrete difference beyond the walls of our hotels.” – Anne-Sophie Beraud, SVP Diversity Inclusion & Social Care
“With Lila.help, we aim to provide a comprehensive, safe and accurate overview of support services across the globe. In this way, wherever you are, you can trust in Lila.help. We have high ambitions for our platform; besides further developing our directory – by adding support services, creating awareness and improving our technology – we aim to create an added value for organizations that join Lila.help. Even the smallest NGOs in the most remote areas should feel that they are not alone in the battle against gender-based violence. Moreover, in the future, we hope to support NGOs and build new support services in locations where there are none. We are pleased with our partnership with Accor, and most grateful to be able to make important next steps in our journey with the support from the ALL Heartist Fund.” - Margot Kuijpers, project leader Lila.help, on behalf of the Global Network of Women’s Shelters.
Ahead of the upcoming International Day for the Prevention of Violence against Women on 25th November, Accor is pleased to announce the strengthening of its long-standing commitment to women through an impactful new partnership with Lila.help.
